b-activists: Humans are Not For Sale

Not For Sale

At Breakthrough, much of our work is connected to immigration and we hear stories of people coming to the U.S. to improve their lives, but what about the millions of people who are forced in as workers? Human trafficking and slavery of all kinds are very real problems, and the international coalition Not For Sale aims to end them. Not For Sale is putting together an international abolitionist movement through innovative open-source activism. They’ve already done great work like building safe houses for child workers in Ghana, building medical clinics for rescued slave children in Thailand, and helping to bust human trafficking rings right here in the US. If you want to learn more about the issue of human trafficking or to contribute to any of their great projects, check out their website.

In addition, Breakthrough’s own Multi-media manager and creator of our immigration game ICED, Heidi Boisvert has worked on her own role playing game called Stitch, Cut, and Die where players take on the role of a journalist in Iraq who uncovers a body trafficking circuit and must collect facts without getting caught and eventually publish a story exposing the illegal trade. It’s currently on display at the Queens Museum!

If you know of any other great organizations like this, let us know, so we can add them to our list.
