b-activists: Blogging the Dream gives those battling mental health a voice

Blogging is no easy feat. But everyone doesn’t have access to the medium, even when they have something extremely important to say.

I came across the Orizonturi Foundation on the Rising Voices blog.  They’ve received a micro-blogging grant for their “Blogging the Dream” project in Romania to teach their mental health service users how to use the internet, digital cameras and blog platforms so they can  blog and have a voice in a public space.

Even though the “Blogging the Dream” project isn’t so literally producing “activist” content, as we typically post in our “b-activists” section, the project overall is vastly changing the lives of people that sit down in front of their computer and become active, engaged, creative members of society. They have the opportunity to write about issues that are important to them and give a window into mental health- a human rights issue that often goes ignored.  This issue and these people now have a platform.
