b-activists: Immigrants “Dream” of graduating
On June 23, over 500 youth from across the country rallied together on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. to hold a mock graduation ceremony.
Dressed in caps and gowns, they were rallying to support the Dream Act, a bill in Congress that would open a path to citizenship for undocumented individuals who completed two years or more of college or military service.
Without this act being passed, thousands of high school graduates will have their dreams deterred, their aspirations for a better life cut short. The young advocates from more than a dozen states who rallied last Tuesday are running out of time and their window of eligibility for relief is closing.
It’s just common sense – isn’t that was America is all about? What happened to the “land of opportunity”?

The DC event was one of many around the country. Here’s some video footage from the Los Angeles event last week: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esGIuxGfExU
