breakthrough beat: TONIGHT - Watch “Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter” at HRW film fest in NYC
This is where we’ll be tonight! So stop by our table before the film below:
We partnered with the Human Rights Watch Film Festival to screen the powerful film Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter on Sun-Tues in NYC. It tells the story of a West African mother’s fight for asylum in the U.S. in order to protect her two-year old daughter from female genital cutting.
The film will be preceded by Sanctuary, a short 4-minute animation of the true story of a woman who tries to seek asylum in the U.K. The film illustrates the struggles and journey she confronts in order to do so.
Here’s info for tonight and tomorrow:
Monday, June 22nd @ 4:00 PM
Tuesday, June 23rd @ 9:00 PM
(The filmmaker of Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter will be present at all these screenings)
Walter Reade Theater at the Film Society of Lincoln Center
165 W. 65th Street
New York, NY
Get tickets HERE.
Hope to see you there!
