RobbinV Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!

This was one of the few tweets today that we could find that didn’t include the word “tequila.” And while we don’t discourage a drink or two, there’s got to be something more to this day- right? One of our favorite blogs Racialicious schools us on what the real deal is:

1:This is not Mexican Independence Day
Nope, that’s September 16th. 5/5 commemorates an unlikely Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla
in 1862. The battle delayed, but did not stop, an eventual French occupation of the country, which lasted three years before it was toppled.
